Narrative

The Math Emporium space in SE 150 has been designated as a computer lab to house lower division math courses (MAT 1033 and MAC 1005) and the Math Boot camp. Right now, the room capacity allows for an instruction of 136 students at most. There are 116 desktops and 20 laptops. There is a need to redesign this space to allow for 10 additional working stations (and 10 additional desktops) and to replace the existing 20 laptops with the desktops. The Math Emporium Model has produced gains in student learning outcomes. Together with the math boot camp they are being used as strategy to impact: * 4 - year Graduation Rate * Academic Progress Rate (also, Retention Rate) * DFW rates * Percentage of students graduating in STEM fields To accommodate the growing number of students, we would like to add additional computers (30 desktops) to replace the existing laptops and add additional 10 working stations.

Facilities

Minor Project Request has been submitted to reconfigure the room (SE150) to create additional work space and replace the existing desk with computer tables as well as to create an additional row of computer tables in the back of the room and to place a shelf for sign-in at the entrance.
