In recent years, students have made use of study rooms for the purpose of practicing delivery of presentations for course assignments or annual symposia. The purpose of this proposal is to free up study rooms for individual and collaborative study and make a dedicated space available (202B) with equipment for recording and simulation of classroom delivery conditions. In addition to student interest, faculty has expressed the need for students to record themselves in digital formats for successful completion of course assignments. A studio for professional quality production of video and audio recording would give students a venue to create media for classroom assignments. Faculty would also have use of this venue to record class content for online distribution which would provide an alternative to recording via Echo 360. Faculty preparing students for classroom teaching also need to understand functionality of emerging technologies that are likely to be deployed by school districts in the near future. Representative equipment purchased for the purpose of demonstration would support teacher education and have a broad impact within the community. We are requesting funds for the purchase of two Google Nexus 7 Android tablets.
