Narrative
Students in the Department of Civil, Environmental & Geomatics Engineering in the BSCV, BSEV, and BSGE majors as well as graduate students in the MSCV and PhD programs are required to print out their engineering design blueprints as part of coursework, design courses, capstones, graduate classes, and thesis/dissertations. Currently, our capability to print out large documents is limited because our plotter system, which was donated over 10 years ago is antiquated and not functional. We propose to purchase a new, modern large format injket plotter that is cloud-ready, student-friendly, fast, high-resolution, and easy to maintain to allow students to print out their CAD and GIS drawings in full color and full size. Some of the courses that require the use of this equipment include: CGN2327-Computer Aided Design CCE4031-Construction Project Management CGN4321-GIS for Civil Engineering Applications CGN4803C-Civil, Environmental and Geomatics Engineering Design 1 CGN4804C-Civil, Environmental and Geomatics Engineering Design 2 TTE3004C-Introduction to Transportation Engineering TTE4810-Highway Engineering CGN5036-Civil Engineering Project Management CGN6616-Infrastructure Maintenance and Management ENV4514-Water and Wastewater Treatment Systems ENV6507-Wastewater Engineering ENV6418-Water Supply and Treatment SUR3141/L-Automated Surveying and Mapping SUR3205/L-Engineering Construction Surveying SUR3463L-Land Subdivision and Platting Lab SUR4463-Subdivision Design ETG4951-Engineering Technology Capstone

Hardware Requirements
See attached quote for details
Software Requirements
Not applicable
Personnel Costs
Not applicable
Other Costs
Other costs include ink cartridges, technical support, hardware support, installation, and freight (see attached quote)
Timeline
As soon as funding becomes available, we anticipate completing the order and receiving the plotter for installation in Spring 2019.
Sustainability
College of Engineering and Computer Science Technical Services Group and OIT will maintain the equipment. OIT staff are familiar with the requirements for design plotters, and they were involved in the selection of the unit to obtain the attached quote. Initial training will allow faculty to create a tutorial for training students on the appropriate use of the technology.
Resource Matching
Not applicable. Plotter paper and ink will be supplied by the Department.
