What are
Key Ratios?
Key Business Ratios measure the relationship between financial values in a
company's balance sheet and income statement. They offer a way to evaluate the
performance and stability of a business.
The D&B® Key Business Ratios Archives (KBR Archives) has over 30 years of history going back to the late 1970's consisting of US Corporations, partnerships and proprietorships for both public and privately held companies. KBR Archives, provided by Mergent, allows immediate online access to competitive benchmarking data. Researchers can examine industry information compiled by Dunn and Bradstreet’s database of public and private companies, featuring 14 key business ratios for public and private companies in 800 lines of businesses plus 30 key business ratios online.
Target Student Population to Be Served by the Project
Currently this content is only available in print at the FAU Libraries on the Boca Campus, which may be a disadvantage to distance learners. Moreover, this current print collection is incomplete, issues are missing from the shelf and often pages have been removed from the volumes.
KBR Archives can be used for distance learning and face-to-face business courses that require students to examine the financial soundness of a company, research industry norms and U.S. public company financials, and identify acquisition targets. Users may also download and create reports and export them to a spreadsheet. Students majoring in all degree programs of the College of Business will benefit from using KBR Archives for course assignments or projects, or to supplement a lecture or discussion.
Business leads all other colleges at FAU in Headcount Enrollment by College at 7,132.* Thus, KBR Archives could potentially be used by thousands of students each semester.
Space Administration
No physical space is needed to store the contents of the archives. They would be made accessible 24/7 to current students, faculty, and staff on campus and remotely through EZproxy.
