Narrative
The objective of this proposal is to add additional security and control access for faculty, staff, and students on the John D. MacArthur campus. Physical keys can be lost or in many cases difficult to get back at the conclusion of a work assignment. Physical keys are not normally given to students. Adding additional swipe card readers in strategic positions around the Jupiter campus will increase security to these buildings and allow for additional clearances that may have otherwise not been allowed. Adding card swipes is a vital fixture to this campus and would allow further expansion and further utilization of the spaces on our campus. Jupiter campus is striving to provide a hub for academic engagement, student involvement, faculty participation, and recruitment in a safe manner. The swipe cards would help serve FAU in the following ways: • Ability to set schedules in buildings and classrooms that are general and assignable for academic instruction, meetings, and events held by faculty, staff, and students • Ability to grant access for research & science labs that have specialized equipment that needs to be secured • Site location for Faculty, Staff, and Student Conference presentations • Use for University events such as Medallion ceremony, Open House, Orientation, Art performances, and State of the Campus Event. • Further control and security over community events that are hosted by Center for Autism, and Related Disorders (CARD), Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce, Max Planck, and Brain Institute • The John D. MacArthur Campus serves over 8,000+ faculty, staff, students, and members of the surrounding community
