Narrative
This Technology Fee proposal is being submitted to upgrade the AV equipment in five classrooms in the College of Education building. The classrooms are all located in the College of Education on the Boca Raton campus: ED118, ED313, ED332, ED333, ED464. With consultation from the FAU AV Services department regarding these classroom upgrades, they were able to provide us with the quotes to upgrade our standard classrooms. The AV upgrades are necessary to replace the old AV equipment and to add the capability to conduct virtual and mixed hybrid classroom use in these classrooms.
Some of the classrooms will require the following AV upgrades, Crestron Digital Media Presentation (DMP), Vaddio HDMI Presenter Camera, Crestron Tabletop touch panel switcher, Arakis POE 8-port network switch, and AudioTechnica table-top gooseneck microphone. ED313 classroom is the Science and Education classroom that is a larger classroom and will require more enhanced AV upgrades to include audience participation. Some of these upgrades proposed for this classroom will include ceiling microphones, an additional camera for the class participants, new projector screen, and two 4’x8’ whiteboards to replace two old chalkboards.
It is essential to upgrade the classroom technologies for our faculty and students. Updated technology in our classrooms will ensure reliability and enhance the overall teaching and learning experience of our instructors and students. These upgrades will improve the overall usability of the education classrooms and will modernize our classrooms and provide a consistent look and feel that is used throughout FAU classrooms.
Hardware Requirements
The hardware items required for this AV upgrade was provided by FAU AV Services in the attached spreadsheet.
Timeline
The AV equipment would be purchased as soon as possible during the Spring 2022 semester. We would coordinate with OIT AV Services for installing the new equipment during the end of the Spring 22 semester or during the Summer 22 semester.
Sustainability
The College of Education Technology staff and the FAU AV Services will maintain the technology after implementation.
Implementing Organization
The College of Education Technology Services staff and in coordination with FAU AV Services will both be implementing this project.
