Narrative
We are seeking funding to equip a research, consulting and teaching laboratory that will offer advanced, high-impact support for undergraduate and graduate students, and faculty in the College of Business. The lab will provide support for existing programs in the College of Business, including the BBA, BS, and BHS degree programs. Professors would provide sustained, high-contact support in a laboratory environment, helping students explore materials and express ideas through digital means. Professors and students acting as consultants, would provide support for business projects to the organizations and groups in the community. Students would gain practical training and experience that would increase their chance of employment after graduation. Classes that will benefit from having this lab are Operations Management (ISM 3506), Quantitative Methods in Business (QMB 3600), Investment Analysis (FIN 4504), Advanced Business Planning (ENT 4114), Marketing Strategy (MAR 4803), Marketing Research & Information Systems (MAR 4613), Accounting Applications of Data Analytics (ACG 3842), Accounting Information Systems (ACG 4401), Introduction to Econometric Methods (ECO 4421), Human Resource Management (MAN 4301), and Financial Analytics for Hospitality Managers (HFT 4453). The lab will be housed on the 4th Floor of the LA Building in Davie. Computers in the lab would have simulation and statistical software packages such as SIUML 8, QRVEY Sisense, R, Gretl, Grocer, Bizview and Budgyt). These, along with printers that can produce high quality reports will increase the College of Business and Florida Atlantic University’s visibility in the community as students will be better prepared for internships, and business related consulting projects. With the advanced research capabilities, students completing graduate courses, and their professors could also find this lab to be useful.
