Narrative
The FAU Boca Raton Campus Libraries Information Technology Services Department is looking to complete the upgrades we started from Library funds in the heavily used Study-Rooms. The initial installations had the airmedia/network/power hung directly behind the television on a bracket. While functional, this configuration allowed too much ease of access. These upgrades will place the airmedia, power, and networking into a recessed wall box with a cover that is hidden behind the TV itself. This is to help maintain the longevity of the devices and to help prevent further wear, tear, incidentals and damage. We are looking to do the 14 remaining rooms. We are also looking to replace x5 of the 50” TV’s.
The usage count for students is the total non-unique reservations from July 2018 to June 2019. We are using pre-pandemic numbers as the library study rooms were closed for parts of FY19-20 and FY20-21. Our usage for Fall 2022 is already at over 6000 requests so we estimate our usage has returned to normal pre-pandemic levels.
Facilities
Installation of the recessed-wall box, electrical, and network moved into the box from the wall. Quotes are provided below from Tropical Island Electric and Jade.

The hardware can be purchased and installed as soon as funds are available. The estimated time to install will be about 6-8 weeks
Sustainability
The hardware will have to be maintained and replaced as necessary with Tech Fee funding or library funds.
