Narrative
We propose, for your consideration, a major upgrade to the audio/visual components at the Book Arts Gallery at FAU Libraries' Jaffe Center for Book Arts. This gallery is the Jaffe Center's main space of interaction with students and the community: classes are held here, films are screened here, student groups and university departments hold meetings and gatherings here, and the space is used several times each month (and, in peak usage, several times each week) to present FAU classes –– as well as local and regional high school and middle school students and community groups –– with an introduction to the Book Arts and to the Jaffe Collection, thereby enhancing their studies and life experiences. In short: the Jaffe Book Arts Gallery is a heavily utilized space within the Libraries.
With the exception of the projector that was replaced several years ago while under warranty, the current audio/visual equipment is the original to the gallery's opening in 2007. The upgrade will allow the Jaffe Center to enhance its service to students and the community by providing the most up-to-date technology and a much-improved experience, especially for projected images and films, while also helping the Jaffe Center to continue to evolve as a center that now, through its programs on Zoom and Vimeo, reaches FAU students on other campuses as well as people all over the globe.
