Narrative
To continue the FAU Libraries textbook affordability efforts, we are seeking $50,000.00 for on-demand purchasing of library-licensed ebooks intended to save students money on textbook costs. Recent Tech Fee funding has impacted over 2,500 students in courses of various disciplines that include:

This funding will ensure that students University-wide will continue to gain access to ebooks used as textbooks at no additional cost.
Note: Our student count is calculated based on 2021-2022 annual e-book (52,373) and e-journal (729,703) usage giving us a total of 782,076.

We anticipate providing access to the e-books as soon as funds are available.
Sustainability
The requested amount will cover the costs to purchase and license e-books for perpetual, unlimited user access. Once the funds have been expended, the Libraries will review usage and content statistics to determine if it will request additional Tech Fee funding.
