Narrative
This proposal requests funding for Otter AI Teams for Education to provide accommodations for students registered with Student Accessibility Services (SAS) who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing and Learning Disabilities. Otter AI Teams provides live captioning for Zoom and audio/transcripts for students with learning disabilities, lectures. This provides Deaf and Hard of Hearing and Learning Disabilities students with an equal level of accessibility and substantially saves FAU funds. Live captioning, audio files and transcripts provide access to students in classes that are online or in person for courses where SAS is unable to recruit paid or volunteer notetakers. This is a crucial accessibility accommodation especially as our population of SAS student has grown to 1449 for the Fall 2022 semester.
