Narrative
The Organic Chemistry Laboratory course has student enrollment of 600+ STEM majors per year, most of whom also identify as being in the pre-health track at FAU. We are seeking funds to purchase two 86-inch, interactive SMART boards. Organic chemistry concepts are tested on medical and other health-related graduate school application exams such as MCAT, DAT, PCAT, and GRE. FAU pre-health students need to be better prepared. The primary goal of this project is to enhance the learning experience in our chemistry laboratory classroom. Smart boards will enable interactive teaching methods, making complex chemical reactions and concepts more engaging and understandable for students. The smart boards will enable instructors to create dynamic, visually appealing presentations that will capture students' attention, leading to increased participation, enthusiasm, and comprehension of the subject matter. Smart boards will also allow instructors to display real-time experiments, molecular structures, IR and NMR spectra and other scientific data, facilitating real-time discussion and analysis. This will help students grasp the practical application of theoretical knowledge. The total cost of the requested two smart boards and wall mounts, is $12,218.
