Narrative
The Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing is requesting funding for 10 iPad Airs and iPad Air covers for the advising team at the College. For Nursing students, the advisors play an important role in guiding them throughout their Nursing journey. Advisors often meet with students one on one and in groups outside of their office and having an iPad on hand during these meetings will be a very useful tool to quickly look up information about the students (e.g., Banner, Canvas and Navigate). Most of our systems are now online as we fully transition from paper documents to online systems so having devices to access these systems when needed is important. The advisors are also involved in various open houses and recruitment events. At these events, having a mobile device to display and demonstrate highlights of FAU and the Nursing College will be beneficial. Additionally, being able to assist during the various Orientation events, the advisors will be able to assist new students with registering for courses or looking up holds, outside of their office (locating an advisor’s office may be difficult to find on student’s first days on campus). Being able to bring technological assistance to the students will be a powerful tool to providing a high level of service to FAU students. The proposal aligns with FAU’s Strategic plan of 2015-2025 and contributes to the value of student success of “wholly committing ourselves to our students’ futures”.
Hardware Requirements

Ten 10.9-inch iPad Air Wi-Fi 256GB - Space Gray
Ten UAG Rugged Case for Apple iPad Air 10.9-inch (2022) - Metropolis SE Black
Software Requirements
These devices will be managed using the MDM software JAMF at FAU.
Other Costs
We will also be getting AppleCare+ for iPad Air as protection in case of unexpected accidents.
The cost per device is $79.
Timeline
All equipment will be ordered as soon as funds are made available.
Sustainability
As these devices will be managed using the MDM software, they will be updated regularly.
We also included purchasing AppleCare+ in the proposal for each device to help manage any issues with the devices that may come up.
