Narrative
University Libraries and the Department of History are jointly applying for a tech fee grant to enhance the Alan B. and Charna Larkin Presidential Study, located on the 3rd floor of the University Libraries, with advanced audio/visual resources for classroom and exhibition use.
Once completed, the Larkin Presidential Study will host one course per semester (with up to 20 students per class, reaching 60 students per academic year). The tech fee will also allow University Libraries and the Department of History to use the space for lectures and special events, enriching the extracurricular experience for Florida Atlantic students. Designed to house a collection of presidential letters and provide classroom space, this study will offer students a unique opportunity to engage with primary source materials. Although initial courses will be History-based, the space will attract students from various disciplines.
We are requesting a 75” NEC display, soundbar, and wireless capabilities for this classroom and exhibition space. These tools are critical for enhancing educational and interactive experiences. The display will allow faculty to access library resources and stream educational content seamlessly, and it can also be used to showcase multimedia presentations or support remote guest speakers. This technology will enhance existing courses, foster active learning, and provide a versatile space for student presentations. In exhibition mode, the display will make information more engaging and accessible, with the flexibility to show videos and digital projects. It will also serve as digital signage between classes and exhibitions, displaying event schedules and highlights.
