Narrative
“Help, I can’t afford my textbooks!” To continue the FAU Libraries’ textbook affordability efforts, the FAU Libraries are seeking $75,000.00 for on-demand purchasing of library licensed ebooks intended to save students money on textbook costs. In the last year, Ebooks acquired by Recent Tech Fee funding impacted over 13,200 students, this is up from 8,800 students the prior fiscal year. Our current selection of titles includes nearly 1000 unique book titles for courses in various colleges that include: Business, Education, Arts & Letters, Science, Engineering & Computer Science, Medicine, Social Work & Criminal Justice, Honors, and Nursing.
This funding will ensure that students University-wide will continue to gain access to ebooks used as textbooks at no additional cost.

Timeline
We anticipate providing access to Free Our Text Books as soon as funds are available.
Sustainability
The requested amount will cover the costs to purchase and license e-books for perpetual, unlimited user access. Once the funds have been expended, the Libraries will review usage and content statistics to determine if it will request additional funding through Tech Fees.
