Narrative

The SASC serves about 500 student-athletes daily providing academic support and life skills development to assist with their academic success. The services, more than 40,000 hours in 2023-2024, include presentations, weekly academic meetings, mentoring, meetings with learning specialists, tutoring, study hall, semester course advisement, life skills, and academic workshops. This proposal requests funding for student performance monitoring software, Retain, to help assist with the coordination of student schedules and reporting. Retain provides the scheduling and management support for student-athletes of their academic and development support. Additional features used include class schedules, academic appointments, student-athlete events, email and text notifications, professor feedback, team travel letter alerts to professors, reporting of meetings, and study hall tracking. As such, this program directly contributes to student success. Pursuant to FAU’s Strategic Plan, this request contributes to student success and the implementation of the goals set forth, specifically Vision and Boldness. This request supports Vision to provide quality programs (3) as well as the values of excellence, innovation, student success, and a high level of customer service (4). Under Boldness, providing students increased access to technology, will increase access to learning, including eLearning (7). It also directly contributes to the point, “develop athletic programs that achieve success in American Athletic Conference and beyond” (7).

The pricing plan for Retain is a 4 year deal for about $22,875 x 4 years for a total of $91,500.

Timeline

We project that this would provide accessibility for use of these resources for 4 years. This cost would be upfront for 4 years or a reoccurring cost over a 4 year contract period.

A proposal will be entered in the future as the software needs to be updated or renewed.
