Narrative
I am requesting 20 Huion Kamvas drawing tablets and 20 licenses for Clip Studio Paint. These tablets will be installed in our interdisciplinary Mac computing lab (AD 122) for use in digital art and team-taught interdisciplinary classes. The tablets and software will support a range of creative projects, including digital drawing, 2D animation, and 3D art for game development. Providing students with access to professional pen display tablets will give them valuable hands-on experience in digital art creation and industry-standard workflows. Currently, students who do not own iPads are at a disadvantage compared to peers who use Clip Studio Paint or Procreate on personal devices. Equipping the lab with these tablets will ensure equal access to digital art tools for all students. A well-equipped computing lab also increases campus value by offering resources that go beyond what students typically have in their dorms or at home. This will encourage greater use of the lab during evenings and weekends, supporting student creativity, collaboration, and skill development.

Timeline
This tech fee grant can be implemented as soon as the funds are received.
Sustainability
We will buy perpetual licenses for Clip Studio Paint. We will not have to upgrade within the grant timeline. If Clip Studio Paint is still an important industry standard after three years and an upgrade is needed, we will seek funding for an upgrade of the software. The hardware is the current top of the line, so it should last beyond three years.
Resource Matching
None
Implementing Organization
OIT Northern Technology Services (NTS).
