Narrative
Introduction: We seek funding to install a state-of-the-art 136” video wall in the Student Resources (SR) Atrium — the heart of the Jupiter campus. Our office is in the process of investing approximately $50,000 in new furniture and sound-absorbing features to make the space more inviting. The addition of this video wall will complete the transformation, creating a vibrant, multi-use environment that enhances both instruction and community life. Project Description: The video wall will serve as a digital centerpiece that brings together students, faculty, and staff for a variety of activities: • Academic Engagement: Hosting research poster sessions, faculty–student showcases, and interdisciplinary presentations. • Community Events: Supporting movie nights, football watch parties, and student organization programming to foster campus connection. • Admissions and Outreach: Serving as a welcoming, visually dynamic backdrop for campus tours, recruitment events, and orientation sessions. • Digital Signage: When not in use for events, the display will highlight campus achievements, event promotions, and university successes. Impact: This project will directly benefit 5,000–10,000 students, faculty, and visitors annually through academic and community use. It will transform the atrium into a modern, flexible venue that strengthens engagement, collaboration, and school spirit. Budget: The total project cost is $58,000, which includes $45,000 for the 136” LED video wall, $7,000 for installation and integration, and $6,000 for electrical panel and outlet upgrades. Conclusion: By combining furniture, acoustics, and digital technology upgrades, the SR Atrium will become the social and intellectual heart of the Jupiter campus — an environment that both inspires learning and celebrates achievement.
Facilities
The video wall will require electrical panel and outlet upgrades. Work will be completed by Tropical Electric or another competitive vendor.
Hardware Requirements
The project includes a 136” commercial-grade LED display with 4K resolution and integrated media control (and mount). The specific model and configuration will be finalized in consultation with FAU OIT, and we welcome their recommendations to ensure optimal performance, compatibility, and long-term support.
Software Requirements
Not required as we can play content from a flash drive or wifi, but we may consider a digital signage software (per OIT recommendations).
Personnel Costs
None, aside from installation costs from FAU OIT.
Other Costs
None
Timeline
Project Timeline (March–August 2026): March–April 2026: Finalize display specifications and vendor selection in coordination with FAU OIT; confirm electrical requirements with Tropical Electric. May–June 2026: Complete electrical upgrades, wall preparation, and delivery of display hardware. July 2026: Installation, integration, and testing by FAU OIT; configure digital signage and content management systems. August 2026: Formal reveal of the completed video wall and refreshed atrium space at the start of the fall semester. **Timeline is flexible and may be adjusted based on FAU OIT’s scheduling and resource availability.
Sustainability
The video wall system is designed for long-term use with minimal maintenance. Routine updates and display management require little ongoing support; however, FAU Jupiter Academic Affairs will provide maintenance assistance or coordination with FAU OIT as needed to ensure continued functionality and visual quality.
