Narrative

Florida Atlantic University Library is committed to providing inclusive and impactful educational resources to our academic community. With the funding of this $25,000 deposit, we will enhance our collection of streaming educational content, further solidifying the library’s role as a vital hub for learning and engagement at FAU. Films stimulate interdisciplinary learning by blending elements of history, literature, science, and art, and they foster media literacy and cultural competence by exposing students to diverse perspectives and global narratives. In the last fiscal year alone, students and faculty accessed our streaming video resources more than 34,450 times, highlighting their value and widespread use across campus. While we successfully added about 250 new films to our collection over the past year, this growth highlights an ongoing challenge: sustaining access. Many of these licenses are temporary, and without continued funding, we risk losing valuable educational content. Strategic investment is essential to maintain and expand our collection. Continued support will ensure sustained access to high-quality educational content for our students and faculty. By broadening our streaming video offerings, we aim to meet the evolving academic and cultural needs of our students

We anticipate providing access to the Streaming resources as soon as funds are available.

Sustainability

The requested amount will cover the costs to purchase and license streaming videos, unlimited user access. Once the funds from this deposit have been expended, the Libraries will review usage and content statistics to determine if it will request additional funding through Tech Fees.
