Narrative

Student Accessibility Services (SAS provides specialized proctoring of exams to students with a wide range of disabilities. This allows students registered with SAS. the ability to receive full approved accommodations, such as the use of assistive technology, isolated and a distraction reduced examination environment, extended examination time and scribed/audio versions of examinations. Student Accessibility Services maintains the utmost level of integrity and security when administering exams provided by FAU Faculty. This includes handling examinations under close supervision, monitoring testing rooms with security cameras and maintaining strict rules of student conduct during examinations.

In order to maintain the security of the SAS testing environment, additional equipment is required for upgrade and replacement. This includes one additional security camera with installation and cabling, one desktop computer with a 27 inch monitor for the reception area where the front desk manager will observe for testing violations and one desktop computer and 27” monitor in the Testing Coordinator’s office where the Test Facilitator and assistant proctors will view the display for testing violations utilizing both real-time and from recorded security camera footage. This proposal seeks to continue the provision of accessible examination accommodations  by adding equipment to meet the demand of an increased number of students taking exams in the SAS.

Hardware Requirements
The hardware requirements included in this proposal are 2 Dell Windows workstations with 27" monitors and an additional security camera which matches our current security camera specifications.These comply with OIT standards.

There are no additional personnel costs for this proposal. Student Accessibility Services will provide current staff to implement this proposal.

This proposal will be fully implemented within 3 months of the date that funds are released to Student Accessibility Services.?The lifetime of the project will be dependent on the lifespan of the equipment which will be a minimum of 5 years, but is expected to exceed this period.
