The FAU Libraries are requesting $23,220 for access to streaming videos through Digital Campus.

Description:
Digital Campus is an online database of over 18,000 sought-after feature films from major Hollywood studios. Because Swank has exclusive distribution rights to thousands of films and is the largest repository of digital film content, they offer the only legal way to stream studio movies for classes. Digital Campus is especially useful for libraries since companies such as Netflix and Amazon provide streaming video accounts for personal rather than academic use.

Target Student Population

Streaming videos are ideal for both distance learning and face-to-face courses that require students to view films outside of class, whether they are related to assignments or projects, or to supplement a lecture or discussion. Providing digital access to course-related films allows educators to enhance the learning experience without taking up valuable class time.

The videos that are available through Digital Campus cover a multitude of subject areas that support student learning in all of FAU’s colleges.

The requested amount will cover the cost to license two collections, “Documentaries” ($14,220 for 374 titles) and “Top 200 Films” ($9,000 for 200 titles) for one year access.
