Narrative
This proposal seeks funding to install a motion tracking camera system in classroom BC126 to enhance the instructional quality of lecture and clinical skills recordings. The camera will dynamically follow instructors and guest speakers, ensuring that critical visual cues (such as stethoscope placement or gestures toward EKGs diagrams) are captured clearly. This upgrade will significantly improve the learning experience for both in-person and remote students, particularly in clinical education settings.
The motion tracking camera will elevate the instructional value of recorded sessions by capturing instructor movement and physical demonstrations. Instructors frequently point to projected materials or perform physical exam techniques that are not visible with static cameras. For example, during pulmonary or cardiovascular examinations, the placement of the stethoscope is a critical instructional detail that must be visible to students. This technology will ensure that such demonstrations are recorded with clarity, supporting asynchronous review, clinical reasoning development, and OSCE preparation.
This project aligns with FAU’s commitment to inclusive and high-impact educational practices. By improving access to high-quality instructional materials, we support student success, engagement, and retention. The proposed upgrade also enhances hybrid learning capabilities, allowing remote participants to follow lectures and demonstrations seamlessly.
Student Benefits
- Enhanced visibility of clinical demonstrations, including stethoscope placement and physical exam maneuvers
- Improved clarity and context in lecture recordings
- Better preparation for exams and clinical assessments
- More inclusive learning for students who miss class or require review
