This technology fee proposal is being requested for funding
to install a digital display monitor for the benefit of students, staff and faculty. The Office of Student Services on the John
D. MacArthur (Jupiter) campus quite possibly serves every student that comes to
campus in one form or fashion, as it was planned as a “one-stop” service
center. In our suite we serve students needs with representatives in the areas
of Academic Advisement, Career Services, Dean of Students, Financial Aid,
Marketing & Enrollment Services, Registrar, and Students with Disabilities.
The entry area in Student Services often serves as the first
face for information to most who are on campus. Having the digital display in
this area will be that reminder to Students, staff, and faculty of the
university’s upcoming events of interest and deadlines that will play a major
role in the smooth processing of documentation necessary to maintain order. This display will be that
extra reminder to us all. As the
student/staff/faculty member is either coming through or awaiting assistance
from a representative in either department, the display will be directly in
their view and delivering the information on a consistent basis. Dates for deadlines such as: Application for Degree, Graduate School Fair’s,
Assist Dean of Students on-campus office hours, Application for Financial Aid, and Advance
registration of classes are just a few of the items that would scroll as
reminders.
As our university becomes more tech savvy it would be to the
best interest of our departments to be parallel partners in this environmental growth
endeavor. We are often the first face for visitors looking to locate Lifelong
Learning and the Hibel Museum on campus; the relationship with Scripps and Max
Planck brings its host of new faces also.
FAU’s mission to provide access through Community Linkages and
Educational Partnerships finds a wonderful home to the students, staff, and
faculty (and community) on the John D. MacArthur Campus in Jupiter.
Two Displays NEX452S ($3,800)
Two Wall Mount Kit for X461S and X551S ($496)
Cable Accessory ($450)
Electrical ($450)
Network Port ($350)
None known.
The estimated timeline for this project is one full week, once all of the equipment is received by the OIT department.
The OIT representative estimates that this will be ample time, and that mid-March would most likely be the best time to start and complete the project.
