Narrative
The College of Medicine is revising and piloting new formats for its curriculum including radiology and clinical skills in the anatomy curriculum for the M1 students. As part of this change, the students are now responsible for basic radiologic and clinical pathology in addition to normal radiologic findings as was previously taught. Over the years, students have consistently shared that although there are lots of resources for anatomy and clinical skills, FAU does not offer any good resource for radiology, in particular cross sectional radiology. At every lecture and review session, the requests are always to scroll through the CT images and identify structures. Knowledge of CT anatomy is essential for today’s clinical doctors and must be learned in order to understand pathology. However, this would be much more efficiently learned if the students were able to review this on their own. This would also allow much needed extra time to teach and review the clinical correlations that we want them to learn. This request is for e-Anatomy -- an award-winning interactive atlas of human anatomy. It is the most complete reference of human anatomy available on web, iPad, iPhone and android devices. Students, on their own, can explore over 5400 anatomic structures and more than 375,000 translated extensible and removable medical labels. Images in: CT, MRI, Radiographs, Anatomic diagrams and nuclear images. Mobile and tablet users can download e-Anatomy on Appstore or GooglePlay, which COM IT would make available to all students as an educational benefit offered by the College of Medicine to its new students.
