Narrative

The Department of Psychology is seeking technology that can enhance and enrich the academic experience in our videoconferencing rooms. During the Summer of 2017 with the help of a tech fee awarded, we were able to install state of the art equipment in one of our conference rooms BS-105 allowing us to expand our Videoconferencing capabilities between campuses not offered by telephone or limited web conferencing. We are also now able to use the room for holding faculty meetings, committee meetings, colloquium speakers, and thesis and dissertation defenses of our graduate students. The Department of Psychology has embraced the effort to enhance the culture of research and learning. However, we are currently unable to use this capability to its full potential since we are missing a document camera, racetrack and cable cubby for laptops and camera for presentor. This technology fee proposal is a request for additional funds to install the Vaddio cameras in room BS 103 and BS 105 to improve and expand the ability of the department to offer more courses made available via video broadcasting and help reduce the burden on students to travel between campuses, and thereby increasing the opportunities of students on remote campuses to participate in courses originating from Boca Raton. These forms of collaboration offer a significant opportunity to increase student enrollment in several of our upper-division seminar courses, which are typically small classes with limited enrollment in Boca
